Yesterday we took a scooter ride over to the mouth of Black Canyon just below the dam of Blue Mesa Reservoir at Morrow Point. We have an appointment next Wednesday morning for a 1 and 1/2 hour boat tour on the Gunnison River down the Black Canyon leaving from Morrow Point and we wanted to check it out before hand. It was a short trip of only 12 miles one way but very scenic.
We hadn’t ridden much more than a mile when we came around a curve, and standing right in the middle of the highway was a Big Horn sheep. What an awesome surprise. We stopped the scooter as quickly as possible moving onto the shoulder to grab a picture. Before we could get the camera out of the saddlebag an 18 wheeler came blasting by and spooked the Big Horn off the highway and sent it scurrying up the side of a mound out of sight. BUMMER
Here are a few pics along Hwy 50 to and from Morrow Point and at the trail head where we have to go down 260+ steps to the water front next week.
This picture was taken shortly after seeing the Big Horn.
This is one of at least 3 bridges that cross the Blue Mesa Reservoir.
This is the Trail Head for Morrow Point Boat Tour (next week).
Miss Carol at Trail Head
On the way back to the trailer Miss Carol snapped this pretty pic from the back of the scooter while going down the road.
