Retired Ft.Worth FireFighters Spring Thang

We left Bandera yesterday morning around 10:00 am and arrived in San Saba about 12:30pm. It was a modest 120 mile trip. We took our time traveling Texas State Hwy 16 all the way from Kerrville to San Saba.  We saw some really pretty Hill Country landscape along this route.  Passed several motorcycle groups out enjoying the pretty but windy day and sightseeing. We were disappointed that we didn’t see any Bluebonnets along the roadside.

We’re here in San Saba for the “Retired Ft. Worth Fire Fighters Spring Thang”.  It is being held here at the San Saba River Golf & RV Park.  This is a City Park owned and operated by the City of San Saba.  It appears to be a relatively new park with very nice facilities & amenities.

It has a very nice Club House for the RV Park that includes very clean restrooms & showers, large full kitchen, large gathering area, laundry room, a lounging area with wide screen TV, air conditioned/heated. It also has Free High Speed WiFi Internet. There are at least 30 rv sites with full hookups w/50amp service.

Adjacent to the RV Park is what appears to be a really nice 18 hole golf course. Both the RV Park and the Golf Course sit in the middle of an old Pecan Orchard.

The Retired Ft.Worth Fire Fighters Spring Thang doesn’t start until Monday and will last until Friday when most will be leaving.  We got here a couple of days early as our time was up in Bandera. We stayed there for a month to take advantage of the monthly rate and to wait until the “Spring Thang” begins.  There are lots of activities planned along with Tuesday 1PM Lunch @ Millican Pecan Co. & tour historic San Saba.   7pm Spaghetti Supper, will cook spaghetti in Club House kitchen, and everyone brings a salad and bread to share.  Wednesday 1:30 lunch @ Coopers in Llano, shop or tour Bluebonnet sites.  Thursday AM visit and/or explore area, 6:30 PM Pepperbellys Tex Mex in Downtown San Saba. Friday 9AM Breakfast in Clubroom Toni's SW Tortilla Scramble & everyone will bring a side of breakfast meat, fresh fruit, juice, etc.

We can’t wait to see our old friends and for the party to begin!!!
