We’ve been on the road for a few days trying to make a surprise rendezvous and we’ve gotten behind on our blog posts.  We made a stop over in Nashville for two nights because we didn’t want to miss the sites.  Carol had been to Nashville years ago before she and I met.  She used to sing in a band and lived in Nashville for a while.  I had never been there so I was pretty excited about it.

We drove around downtown and found a parking lot that would accommodate the F-450.  We always look for an “open” lot as opposed to a parking garage because its hard to maneuver the 450 in some of those tight spaces.

First place we walked up on was the Old Ryman Auditorium.  Birthplace of BlueGrass.

We walked a couple more blocks and we were in the Heart of the Nashville Scene, 5th Street and Broadway.  There was one establishment after another with live music bellowing out the entrance as you walked past.  Each one with a Wanna-Be Nashville SuperStar waiting to be discovered.

Here’s Miss Carol looking all pretty.  We look so touristy, but hey, we’re having fun.

We stopped in at the Wildhorse Saloon to have a small lunch snack and some iced tea. We had dinner plans and didn’t want to spoil our appetite.  I swear, every time I take Miss Carol out in public,

some guy always tries to hit on her. I have to really watch her.

This must be a good bar to pick up a date in.

I had to go over and tell him this heifer is taken, sorry bud!!!   That’s the way us Cowboys talk down in Texas.

And of course, you can’t go to Nashville without going to the “Grand Ole’ Opry House”

After all our sight-seeing, we drove over to north Nashville to have an early dinner at Neely’s Barbeque.  They have the “Down Home With the Neely’s” cooking show on the Food Channel.

We ordered the “Slabs” dinner for two.  Pork ribs, cole slaw, beans, Texas toast. It was as good as we’d hoped it to be.

The ribs were “Slap your Mama” good.    After eating ribs with your fingers, you finish feeling like you need a full body bath.  We highly recommend this place.

Just a note,  While we’ve been driving for so many days, I got behind on posting but I’ve kept up with reading the blogs of others we FOLLOW.  Even though we don’t always leave a “comment” on each post, we do read them all. Sometimes we will just mark the “Like” checkbox.  We want to thank all of those that Follow our blog and hope we make it interesting and entertaining for you.  We have a new slideshow on our “Videos and SlideShows” page.
