The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

We took our 5th Wheel over to Bill’s RV Appliance Repair shop in Elkhart this morning to see about getting the living room a/c fixed. We left the campground about 8:00am and were there by 9:00am. We unhooked and went to find some breakfast while they ran the diagnostics to see what was wrong. We ended up at Burger King and had the fast food style breakfast. Wouldn’t recommend it to our worst enemy. So we Googled “Krispy Kreme” on our new Garmin Nuvi 1690 GPS unit and low and behold, there was one only 9 miles away.  Hey! 9 miles is no object when it comes to these donuts. ha ha.

“THE GOOD”: We drove straight back to the repair shop to see if they had found out anything. They were waiting on a call back from Good Sam’s Extended Service to see what options they would allow.   The Good news, Good Sam’s said to put in a brand new A/C unit which will have a 2 year warranty on it.

“THE BAD”:  They had to order the new A/C out of California and it will be the middle of next week before it arrives. So we’re stuck here in Millersburg for another week. Bummer!!!!

the_ugly
“THE UGLY”: The Diagnostics: Bad compressor, bad Freon lines, bad start capacitor.  Evidently, when we had the same diagnostics run when we were in Florida in June, they failed to test it thoroughly enough and didn’t detect the bad compressor. I don’t want to mention any names, but the word LAZY keeps popping up, as in Lazy Days. You know, I’m not sure having the word “LAZY” in your business name is a good idea!!!!

At least we’re finally getting it resolved with a new a/c with new warranty, we only have to pay the $200 Good Sam's Deductible, we’re staying at the Carriage RV park for free so we can’t complain toooooo much.

  2. Repair issues seem to be plaguing a lot of us this week. I'll try to enjoy Boise if you try to enjoy Elkhart waiting this weekend. :)

  5. Great blog! I liked the Good better than the Bad and Ugly though. At least you are getting some of that work done free under warranty and it will be nice to have it all finally fixed anyway. I agree, "Lazy" isn't the best name for a company!
